Comments onegaishimasu!

Hello and Season's Greetings to all of you all over the world. This post is a request, specifically for those of you who know me, but open to anyone who just happens to visit the site. Please post comments to this post: Tell me about one tradition or event that happens in your life during this time of the year. I'm assuming you'll pick something that you enjoy, but anything is welcome.

Please remember that your comments will be posted to the internet where they are viewable by the world (in theory, although it's unlikely that my blog is visited by quite that many people). In any case, you may want to think before posting your real name. You don't need to post any name or you could post a nickname/job title/split personality/ cat's name. If you post only your first name you are probably pretty safe, especially if your name is something like Bob, John, Fred, or Alice. ;) Also, PLEASE DO NOT post things like: your home address, your phone number, your credit card numbers, your social security number, or your entire genetic sequence.

Posting is simple, just click on the "'#' comments" link with the pencil next to it. Don't be shy, and feel free to reply to somone else's comment if it interests you. I'll go first, read my comment by clicking on the same link as to post. :)

Yay! You made it to the comments!
For me there are a couple of traditions that always reminded me of this time of the year.
The first was, of course, decorating the tree. An unoriginal choice, so I won't explain it further.
The second is Christmas Eve, spent at my grandparents' house with most of the extended family, cousins, aunts and uncles, everyone.
The third was usually done in preparation for the second. Since the Christmas party was a potluck, we had to bring some food. SO, often at this time of year my mother would make Sri Lankan meat cutlets (kind of similar to samosa, if you know indian food). We just call them meatballs. Once the meat is prepared and the ingredients added there is a step where you have to roll balls, dip them in egg white, and coat them with bread crumbs. So we usually formed a three person team with my sister and I helping in conveyor belt style meatball making. Since we make hundreds of these and often make enough for more than one event at a time, it can take quite a while. So we often do this while watching a movie or Christmas TV special. It was always one of my happiest memories. This year, since I couldn't be with my family, I made the meatballs with a good friend of mine here in Japan. Of course, they weren't quite the same, but it made it feel a little bit more like Christmas for me.
